Height:
The
preferred height for males is 20-23 inches, females 18-21 inches.
Quality is not to be sacrificed in favor of size. Color:
Blue merle, black, red merle, red-all with or without white markings
and/or tan (copper) points. |
 | Basic
Requirements: Australian
Shepherds need a 6' fenced yard with room to play. They are active
dogs that enjoy playing ball or frisbee. They do shed, and
twice-weekly brushings will help keep shedding under control. |
 | Temperament:
Australian Shepherds are intelligent,
active, and even-tempered. At first they may be reserved with
strangers, so early socialization is important. They make good
family dogs and are great with kids. Australian Shepherds are loyal and
protective of their family. |
 | Health:

Health problems in
the breed include hip dysplasia, allergies, epilepsy, and eye
disorders. The average
lifespan is 13 years. |
