Quote from an Owner

"The Basset Hound is a wonderful breed; once you have lost your heart to a Basset, it is for a lifetime. The Basset is a heavy-bodied dog, low to the ground, with very long, soft ears. He is a sweet dog, docile and laidback.  He can also be a very alert companion when he goes along with you on walks, due to his keen sense of smell and very good tracking skills.  Bassets are very often used as therapy dogs, because they know how to behave around people, and they love everyone they meet during the day. A Basset Hound's trust in mankind is abundant, and he will follow you and love you his whole life. He loves his human so much, that he will be very sad if left home alone while you are at work.  That love also makes a Basset a very special family dog and partner throughout his entire life.
