AKC Size Ideally, dogs, 13-15 1/2 pounds, bitches, 11 1/2-14 pounds. Color: Red, grizzle and tan, blue and tan or wheaten. A small amount of white is allowed on the chest.

 

Basic Requirements: Border Terriers are active dogs and require a fenced yard with enough room to run and exercise hard. They need to be on a leash when out of the yard. Weekly brushing, to control moderate shedding, and bi-yearly stripping of the coat is required.

 

Temperament: Border Terriers are tough and bold in the field and devoted and obedient at home. They make good family pets. They are good with children, and they love to play. They learn quickly and are easy to train.

 

Health: (Health Dictionary click here) The average lifespan is thirteen years. Watch for Hip Dysplasia, Hereditary Eye Disorders, Hypothyroidism, Epilepsy, Heart Disorders, Luxated Patellar, Canine Epileptoid Cramping Disease (Spike's Disease)
