Smooth
variety
There
are two Fox Terrier varieties: Smooth and wire

Terrier: AKC
Height: Ideally,
dogs should not exceed 15 1/2 inches at the withers; bitches
slightly smaller.
Color: Smooth
colors are variable. White should predominate; brindle, red or liver
markings are considered objectionable. Wire colors are
variable. White should predominate; brindle, red, liver or slate
blue are objectionable. |

Basic
Requirements: Fox
Terriers are active dogs that need a moderate-sized yard in which to
exercise and play. They love to dig, so make sure fencing is secure. Weekly
brushing will help to control slight shedding. Wire coats will need to be
stripped every couple of months. |
 | Temperament:
Lively,
bold, alert and, at times, fiesty and independent. Generally good
with children if raised with them (they love to play). The Fox
Terrier makes a good watchdog. |
 | Health:

Average
lifespan is 12 years. Health problems to be aware of include
epilepsy. legg-perthes, deafness, and eye disorders. |
