ROTTWEILER
Characteristics,
care, health & breeder listings below.

 |
AKC
Height: Ideally,
Dogs 24 inches to 27 inches. Bitches 22 inches to 25 inches
Color: Black
with rust to mahogany markings. |
 | Basic
Requirements: Due
to the protective and territorial instincts of the Rottweiler, early
obedience training and socialization is very important. Rottweilers
need a securely fenced yard in which to run and play. Weekly
brushing and occasional bathing will help to control moderate
shedding. |
 | Temperament:
Properly
trained dogs are generally well-behaved companions. All dogs are
instinctive, and special care must be taken with a large, protective
breed such as the Rottweiler. This breed does best with older
children who can handle a strong large-breed dog. |
 | Health
(Health Dictionary click here) Average
lifespan is 10 years. Watch for entropian, ectropian, PRA,
cataracts, cancer, epilepsy, hip/elbow dysplasia, hypothyroidism,
panosteotitis, Von Willebrand's disease, Osteochondrosis Dissecand (OCD),
Sub-aortic stenosis, bloat |
