Basic Requirements: Shiba Inu's are active dogs that require a securely fenced yard in which to run and play. Once mature, they are generally quiet and clean indoors. Weekly brushing will help to control moderate shedding.

Temperament: Shiba Inu's enjoy human companionship; however some tend to be more suspicious of strangers than others. Early socialization is important. Some Shibas are also more possessive than others and early obedience training will help with this. The breed is generally good with children if raised with them. Shibas will bark to notify their owner of strangers to the home.
