Height:  Desert type: 26 - 28" (66 to 72 cm) at the withers, and up to 29.5" (75cm). Mountain type: dogs, bitches 24"- 27" (61 to 68 cm). Desert-type Sloughis are more lightly built than mountain type.  Color: They come in various colours: Cream, red, sand, fawn, with or without black mask, brown mantle, and various brindle colourings. They must not be black, white, or parti-colour. A small amount of white is permissible on extremities or chest.

Basic Requirements: Sloughis need plenty of room to run and exercise. Generally quiet in the house, they appreciate a soft bed in which to sleep. Weekly brushing will keep minor shedding to a minimum. Early training and ample socialization is important. 

Temperament: Noble and sometimes quite reserved with strangers, the Sloughi is an affectionate and playful family dog. They make protective watchdogs.
