The name of the Jack Russell Terrier was changed by the AKC to the Parson Russell Terrier effective April 1, 2003.

Jack Russell Terrier

AKC Height: Ideally, between 12 to 14 inches. Color: White, white with black or tan markings or a combination of these, tri-color.

Basic Requirements: Parson Russell Terriers are energetic dogs that need room to run and play. Weekly brushing and occasional bathing will keep the coat in shape.

Temperament Bold and friendly, Parson Russells can be independent at times. They love to play games of fetch and get along best with older children who are good with dogs.

Health (Health Dictionary click here) Average lifespan 12 years. Watch for deafness, skin disorders, legg-perthes, lens luxation (eyes), epilepsy.
